What happens next

Questions before getting in touch?

A few common questions before starting a video, animation, photography or cinematography project.

What if I’m not sure what format I need?

That’s completely fine. You can come with the message, audience, campaign, problem or rough idea, and we can work out the right approach together. Video is useful for showing real people, places and perspectives. Animation and motion graphics are useful when the idea is abstract, complex or difficult to film. Sometimes, the right solution is a mix of formats.

What is the usual video production process?

Most video production projects move through a few clear stages: understanding the idea, shaping the message, planning the shoot, filming, editing, review and final delivery. Depending on the project, this may include scripting, interview questions, talent, locations, post-production, captions and shorter versions for websites, social media or presentations.

What is the usual animation or motion graphics process?

Animation and motion graphics usually start with the message and structure before anything moves. The process may include scripting, visual style, storyboards or sketches, style frames, animation, sound and final delivery. A simple motion graphics piece can be quite lean, while a detailed animated explainer may need more time for design, visual metaphors and refinement.

How much does video production or animation usually cost?

The cost depends on the scope. For video production, this can include filming days, crew size, locations, talent, equipment, editing, motion graphics, music, captions, review rounds and final deliverables. For animation, the budget usually depends on duration, style, complexity, illustration or design needs, voice-over, sound and the number of scenes.

Do I need a finished brief before getting in touch?

No. A finished brief is helpful, but it is not required. You can get in touch with a detailed brief, a rough idea, a message, an audience, a deadline, a campaign goal, or simply a problem you are trying to solve. From there, I can help work out the right approach, scope and next step.

Do you work with agencies, producers and directors?

Yes. I work directly with organisations, and also with agencies, producers and directors. Depending on the project, that might mean working as a cinematographer, Director of Photography, camera operator, motion graphics partner, or helping create video, animation, photography or mixed-media assets as part of a wider campaign or production.
