Project Notes
The production
Just Between Us is a feature film directed by Christopher Kay. The story follows an unadventurous people-pleaser and her childhood friend as they set off on a road trip with the ghost of her late sister.
The film stars Deanna Ortuso, Joanne Nguyen, Calista Fooks, Kaarin Fairfax and Clayton Jacobson, and was produced by Sidebar Productions with Australian and New Zealand distribution through Umbrella Entertainment.
My role
I worked as Director of Photography, supporting the film’s visual direction through camera, lighting and framing across the production.
The visual approach
The cinematography needed to support the performances, locations and changing tone of the story — from humour and friendship to grief and emotional reflection — while staying practical across a road-trip production. We’ve filmed scenes across Victoria and New South Wales, with both city based shoots and remote locations.
Where to watch
You can find more information about the film and where to watch it through the Screen Australia Screen Guide.
